Kicking Off The Haul With A Strike: How To Manage A Love Of Sports On The Long Haul

Both hauls and games are long, so is it possible to have both? The money rolls in and the family couldn’t be happier, but what happened to your wants and needs? Sports have become all the rage and have dominated the entertainment industry. Whether it’s following your team or playing the sport yourself, it offers a thing worth fighting for. However, the downside to this hobby is how time consuming these hobbies can be. Managing optimum work ethic with a passion for sports are both demanding endeavours, hence why many struggle to balance the both. In today’s article, we will tackle how these seemingly conflicting issues can complement one another.

Listening To The Radio

Nothing beats good old traditional FM /AM radio. Regardless of which radio station you tune in on, we can all agree that that’s what hits home. Brings back good memories don’t it? It may not beat a live game, but it has its perks too. This way, you can gladly enjoy your favourite game while still having your eyes on the road; two birds with one stone. You stay informed about the latest news and scores too. Plus the radio has the surprise of the unexpected, eagerly listening to the post as you really zone into the game. This can be an exhilarating experience for you to cherish during those long hauls.

Sports Community

While sports can be an intense hobby for everyone involved, it creates a tight-knit community who may not know each other but can click over the same passion. Everyone deserves to feel they belong; more so when lorry driving because the job can be very isolating and lonesome.

There are many ways to find your group of people.  You can start that first chat about the previous game and watch how you attract fellow sports fans like yourself. Not only will you do yourself good, you will also benefit other people in similar situations that may have been struggling to find their place. But your network doesn’t have to be confined to your colleagues, they can expand further.

Breaks are a good time to lookout for fellow lorry drivers and start that conversation about the latest game. You’ll even surprise yourself with how manful a relationship can be over just on good initial interaction. The key is initiative. Once you spark that conversation, you’ll see how your world isn’t as lonely as you once thought it was. Start by mentioning something you would want someone else to ask you. Reason why I say this is because chances are that the other driver is in a similar predicament as you; they need someone to bond with. Simple things like how is their day going, do they play/follow said sport. If not, then any other hobbies that you have etc. There’ll always be someone who has the same passions and would love to rave about it as much as you do.

Mimic the Play

Once you’ve found your club of fans, there are bound to be many things you can do together. Playing in real life may pose an issue, but building fantasy leagues can be a good alternative to the sport. You would be surprised at how many fans actually do engage in thousand lorry drivers are no exception. This is why this point is heavily dependent on the last, once you find you group you can do anything together that you feel like doing based on your love for a sport. Simple suggestions like discussing the last game with fellow team fans can be a burden of your shoulders. This way you give yourself a good outlet to let your passions out on the topic so that you can better work when the time comes. A good yet concise break can be the make or break to your day. While it is very important to have fun, it is equally imperative to manage workloads too. This takes me to the next point…

Set Priorities

While having fun is crucial to a healthy lifestyle, it shouldn’t preoccupy you to the extent where it hinders your work either. Keeping up with newly acquainted friends can be a thrill, but managing your friendships alongside work is also a skill. Things like having do not disturb mode on when you work, checking messages and other social media in your breaks or in long traffic, setting timers on how long you can spend talking can really make a massive impact. But then again, when you have downtime, as hard as it may be, take some time to really just let yourself go and forget work for a while. It’s all about finding that sweet spot between the both.

Well that’ll be it for my blog today. This blog hopefully serves as a reminder to us all that it’s never too late to have fun and incorporate bits of what we live into our lives. Whether it’s listening in, playing a game or finding the community for you, it all fosters a strong connection to that special sport. Your lorry gets a good run every day, so is it not time for you to get a good game.
